Care and Tank Setup

Give your CPOs plenty of hiding spots such as rocks, wood and plants, especially for molting. Molting crayfish are soft and vulnerable, so cover matters. A tight lid prevents escapes through filter openings.

Feed sinking foods every day or two and keep the water clean and well oxygenated. CPOs rarely damage plants and breed readily in a mature tank with good cover.

Tank Mates

CPOs work with small, peaceful fish that swim mid to upper water, such as the White Cloud Minnow. Snails like the Zebra Nerite Snail and our new Ramshorn Snail are good cleanup partners. Do not house them with dwarf shrimp you want to keep. For a larger crayfish in its own tank, see the Neon Orange Lobster.
