Care and Tank Setup

Set up a mature, planted aquarium with floating plant roots, moss and driftwood. Thai Micro Crabs cling to roots and filter tiny food particles from the water, so a tank with established biofilm helps them settle.

Use a sponge filter or a guarded intake so these tiny crabs are not pulled in. Offer powdered foods a few times a week and keep water changes steady to avoid swings.

Since they are so small and shy, Thai Micro Crabs are best added to a quiet tank without busy, boisterous fish. Look for them clinging to floating plant roots or moss early in the morning or after the lights go down, when they come out to feed most actively.

Tank Mates

Keep them with small, gentle fish and invertebrates only. Great matches include the Chili Rasbora, the Ember Tetra, the Otocinclus Algae Eater and the Red Cherry Shrimp. Our new Bamboo Shrimp and Ramshorn Snail also share the same peaceful tanks. Avoid crayfish, large crabs and fish big enough to eat them.
