Silver Tip Tetra Varieties and Sizes

Every pack ships as juveniles of about 0.5-1″. You can buy:

• Standard Silver Tip Tetra: copper-gold body with bright white tips on the dorsal, anal and tail fins, in 3, 6, 10 and 12 packs.
• Albino Silver Tip Tetra: a pale, pink-eyed form with the same white fin tips, in 3, 6, 10 and 12 packs.

Schooling fish are happiest in groups, so a 6, 10 or 12 pack is the best way to start.

Care and Tank Setup

Silver Tip Tetras come from streams in eastern Brazil and adapt well to most home aquariums. Give them a planted tank with open swimming space, gentle to moderate flow and a dark substrate to show off their color. Keep at least six together; in larger groups they school tightly and males show their brightest gold. Feed a quality flake or micro pellet daily and add frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms a few times a week. Regular partial water changes keep them active and colorful. In very small groups they can nip long, flowing fins, so a proper school keeps their energy focused on each other.

Tank Mates

These tetras mix well with other small, peaceful fish. Good companions include the Neon Tetra, the Panda Cory and the Harlequin Rasbora. For a bigger tetra display, pair them with our new Head and Tail Light Tetra. Avoid slow, long-finned fish such as bettas, and large predators that could see them as food.
