• Care level: Easy to moderate
• Water parameters: 72-78°F, pH 8.1-8.4, specific gravity 1.020-1.025
• Diet: Carnivore: mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, pellets and live pods

Care and Tank Setup

Like other Halichoeres wrasses, the Yellow Coris dives into the sand at night and when stressed, so a fine sand bed 2 inches deep or more is essential. Keep the tank covered, as wrasses can jump.

Feed meaty foods two or three times daily. It ignores corals but may pick at very small shrimp, snails or worms, which is why it is called reef-safe with caution.

Smaller fish settle in quickly and grow into their full size, while larger fish make an instant splash of color. Add the Yellow Coris Wrasse to a mature tank with natural pods and live rock to forage over, and it will spend every daylight hour exploring and hunting for small food items.

Tank Mates

This wrasse is peaceful and does well with most community reef fish. Consider the Carpenter’s Fairy Wrasse, the Royal Gramma and the Lawnmower Blenny. It also suits tanks with our new Yellow Tang, and it can share a larger reef with the Melanurus Wrasse when both are added together.
