Yellow Tang

Yellow Tang for Sale: Buy Captive-Bred Yellow Tang Online

A Yellow Tang for sale is one of the most wanted fish in the reef hobby. Zebrasoma flavescens is solid, glowing yellow with a white spine near the tail, and it spends the day grazing algae off the rockwork. Since Hawaii stopped aquarium fish exports, Yellow Tangs have become harder to find. Order from us and you can buy captive-bred Yellow Tangs that are used to aquarium foods, a great addition to our tangs and surgeonfish collection.

Care and Tank Setup

Yellow Tangs need room to swim, so plan for at least 100-120 gallons for an adult, with plenty of live rock and open space along the front. They are excellent algae grazers and help keep film algae in check in a reef tank. Offer dried seaweed on a clip every day, plus herbivore pellets and occasional frozen foods. Keep water stable and well oxygenated, and quarantine new arrivals, since tangs can be prone to marine ich. A well-fed Yellow Tang keeps its bright color and steady temperament.

Tank Mates

Yellow Tangs are peaceful with most reef fish but can be territorial with other tangs, especially other Zebrasoma. Good tank mates include clownfish, the Royal Gramma, the Bicolor Blenny and small wrasses. In large systems they can live with differently shaped tangs such as the Chevron Tang or our new Blue Hippo Tang. If you want another Zebrasoma, add the new Purple Tang at the same time, and only in a very large tank.
