Care and Tank Setup

Blue Reef Chromis spend their time in open water, so leave swimming room above the rockwork. In a 30 gallon tank keep a small group; larger tanks let you build a bigger school. Adding them together reduces squabbles.

Feed small portions two or three times a day, as this planktivore does best with frequent meals. They are fully reef-safe and leave corals and invertebrates alone.

Small chromis are perfect for starting a school that grows up together, while larger fish make an instant impact. Plan to add three, five or more at the same time so they can spread out any squabbles, and watch them move as one shimmering group through your reef.

Tank Mates

These peaceful fish suit almost any reef community. Good companions include the Royal Gramma, the Flame Cardinalfish and our new Firefish Goby. For more color in the same group, try our new Yellowtail Damselfish or the Green Chromis Damselfish. Avoid large predators that could eat small schooling fish.
