Care and Tank Setup

Green Terrors reach about 8 inches. A 50 gallon tank is the minimum for one fish, with 75 gallons or more for a pair or community. Keep the water at 72 to 80°F with a pH around 6.5 to 8. They dig, so use sand or smooth gravel with rocks, caves and driftwood, and anchor any plants well. A strong filter and regular partial water changes keep them healthy and colorful. Feed a high-quality cichlid pellet, plus frozen shrimp, bloodworms and krill.

Tank Mates

Green Terrors are semi-aggressive and can be territorial, especially when breeding. Keep them with robust fish of similar size, such as a Severum Cichlid, a Tiger Oscar or an Albino Tiger Oscar, the related Electric Blue Acara Cichlid, or a school of Spotted Silver Dollars as dither fish. Avoid small community fish that could be bullied or eaten.
