Care and Tank Setup

Rosy Reds reach 2 to 3 inches and do well in a 10 gallon tank or larger for a small group, or in an outdoor pond. They tolerate a very wide temperature range, from about 50 to 78°F, so they do not need a heater in most homes. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH suits them. Give them clean, well-filtered water and room to swim. They eat almost anything: flakes, micro pellets, and frozen or live foods such as daphnia and bloodworms. In ponds they also graze on mosquito larvae and small insects. They breed readily, with males guarding eggs laid on the underside of rocks and other flat surfaces.

Tank Mates

Rosy Reds are peaceful schoolers that pair well with other coldwater and temperate fish, such as the White Cloud Minnow and the Zebra Danio.
