Care and Tank Setup
Like all tangs, the Scopas needs open swimming room and strong water flow, so plan on a tank of 120 gallons or more as it grows. Plenty of live rock gives it surfaces to graze and places to rest at night.
Offer dried seaweed on a clip every day along with algae-based pellets and frozen foods. A steady vegetable diet supports good color and immunity. Quarantine is a good practice for any tang, and stable, well-oxygenated water helps it thrive.
Tank Mates
The Scopas Tang does well with clownfish, gobies, wrasses and other peaceful reef fish. It can be territorial toward tangs with a similar shape, so add tangs at the same time in a large system. Our new Yellow Tang and Tomini Tang are popular companions in big reefs, and the Chevron Tang, Blonde Naso Tang and Royal Gramma are good options to browse as well.
