Care and Tank Setup

Trochus Snails spend their time on rock and glass, grazing algae films most other cleaners miss. Add them once your tank is cycled and algae starts to appear, and offer dried seaweed if algae runs short. Their ability to flip back over means fewer lost snails than with Turbo or Astraea types.

Captive-bred Trochus are raised in aquaculture and adapt well to aquarium life, while wild snails are a budget-friendly choice for larger crews. Drip acclimate both slowly, and never use copper in a tank with invertebrates.

Tank Mates

Trochus Snails are fully reef safe and fit in with corals, shrimp and peaceful reef fish. They pair well with the Astraea Snail and Black Margarita Snail, and with algae eaters like the Lawnmower Blenny. Keep spare shells for hermit crabs, and avoid puffers, triggers and hogfish, which eat snails.
