Care and Tank Setup

Turbo Snails are big eaters, so add them to a cycled tank that already shows some algae growth. Stock around one snail per 10 gallons and adjust up or down depending on how much algae you have. Once the algae is gone, offer dried seaweed so they do not starve. Drip acclimate them slowly and keep copper out of the tank.

Their size makes them bulldozers: glue frags and loose rock in place so they are not knocked over. A Turbo that lands upside down on the sand may struggle to flip back, so turn it over if you spot it.

Tank Mates

Turbo Snails are reef safe and live peacefully with corals, shrimp and most fish. They pair well with smaller grazers like the Astraea Snail and with algae-eating fish such as the Lawnmower Blenny. If you keep hermits like the Blue Knuckle Hermit Crab, add a few empty shells so they leave your snails alone. Avoid snail eaters such as puffers, triggers and hogfish.
