Care and Tank Setup

Sexy Shrimp do well in nano tanks and larger reefs alike. In the wild they live among anemones, and in the aquarium they often settle into a host anemone or a coral. Feed small pieces of frozen mysis or brine shrimp, or let them pick up leftovers.

Reef note: they are generally reef safe, but some keepers see them pick at zoanthids and certain soft corals or LPS, so watch them in a mixed reef. Keep them in groups of three or more for natural behavior, since a group shows far more of the famous dancing than a single shrimp, drip acclimate slowly, and keep copper out of the tank.

Tank Mates

Pair Sexy Shrimp with a host such as a Rose Anemone or Sebae Anemone, and choose small, peaceful fish like the Banggai Cardinalfish. Avoid shrimp eaters such as hawkfish, dottybacks, large wrasses and triggers, which see them as food.
